Dr. Jim: Welcome to the Thee Generation Podcast. It’s hard to believe that we are here at our very first podcast, but we are looking forward to all the Lord has. I hope that you are encouraged in the Lord, and I want to spend a few minutes here just telling you what is the Thee Generation all about.
You probably know by now that our byline is Total Surrender, Total Dependence. To put it this way, we believe that right now God is raising up a generation of young people who are totally surrendered—that in every generation, there has been a group of young people who are totally surrendered to the Lord Jesus and totally depended upon Him.
Many years ago there was a little girl born in downstate Illinois and she encountered some difficulty in her life. When she was nine years old her mother passed away, when she was fourteen her father passed away. But she gave herself to the Lord and did not get bitter. about those difficult circumstances and through the godly advice of godly cousins went to a Christian college.
The reason I know so much about this young lady is because she’s my mother and she was a part of the Thee Generation of that day as was my father who in his early years, 14 years old surrendered to the call of preach on his life. Because he had such a bad stuttering problem he had to depend upon God to enable him to just preach and God used his ministry for 50 years. He was certainly a part of the Thee Generation back many decades ago.
Now young person, you are a part of the Thee Generation right now. A generation that is totally surrendered to Jesus and totally dependent upon Him for the power to do what He has called you to do. Maybe right now you don’t know what He’s called you to do, but be open to whatever God has for you, and be dependent upon Him to enable you to do what He’s called you to do. That’s the Thee Generation.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your body as a living sacrifice, wholly acceptable unto God.” Young person, if that’s your heart cry, then you are part of the Thee Generation. If you’ve given yourself as a living sacrifice to the Lord Jesus, wholly separated, and ready to do God’s will, that certainly is our burden.
Now, let me encourage you to, at this very part of your young life, to begin to seek the Lord. There’s two things that I would say that the generation is dependent upon the Lord for. Number one, we are dependent upon God to really learn how to pray and how to wrestle with God and really get on His agenda so that we are praying according to the will of God. And the Bible says when that happens, we will have what we have desired of Him, 1 John chapter number five.
The second area is you need to depend upon God as you seek Him in His Word to illumine truth, to teach you truth. And I will tell you, friend, as God begins to open His Word to you and as He begins to enable you to pray, enable you to understand His Word, you will have the two things God has given to fuel your faith. That’s the total dependence. And when you’re totally depending on Jesus, you will be able to totally surrender to do His will because you will know that what He calls you to do, He will enable you to do.
Actually, Hebrews chapter number four gives those two very important dynamics when it talks about the Christian life being a life of rest. That’s not a life of just sitting back and doing nothing. It’s a life of doing the will of God but being at rest knowing that God is going to enable you to do what He has called you to do.
So thank God you’re a part of the Thee Generation. Keep your heart tender toward God. Begin to fuel your faith by spending time in His Word. And by learning how to pray by depending upon Him to know what to pray for and to give you the strength to pray it. A young person every day you can see answers to prayer as you depend upon God to lead you, to show you His will, to come into union with it and have confidence that indeed He is going to give you what you’ve asked for because it was prayed according to His will.
Now so much more could be said, but we’re thrilled about what God is going to do in your generation. In fact, we were in Michigan at a Christian school. And several young people in that Christian school, some of you are listening to me, are a part of the degeneration in the sense that you are totally surrendered, totally dependent. I thank the Lord for you that are listening from that particular school.
But those of you that were not at that school, which is the majority of those listening to me, God did a wonderful thing. We saw over 195 teenagers come to our evening rallies. Best we can estimate about 45 young people stepped out to trust Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. It was wonderful to see so many kids saved. to see smiles, to see joy, in some cases tears, as young people trusted Jesus to wash their sins away and give them eternal life.
It was a thrilling, thrilling week for two reasons. It’s great to see a harvest of souls, but it is also equally as great to see young people totally surrendered, totally dependent, and to see God use them to reach their peers. Several young people last week were used of the Lord to invite somebody. to speak to somebody about their soul, in some cases open a Bible and lead somebody to Jesus. It was a great thrill to see the Thee Generation in action.
Well, get somebody that you know that has a heart for God, get them to join up with the Thee Generation and get our weekly podcasts. One other thing at Menominee Falls, Wisconsin at Falls Baptist Church, we’re going to have our second annual The Generation Youth Summit at Falls Baptist Church. And about 200 plus young people will be assembling from all across the country to not only have a great time in competition, but to spend time hearing the Word of God preached.
Those competitions, by the way, are going to be four-way, something that has only been done last year, something new for Minutemen Ministries that was exciting last year, it will be great this year. So let me encourage you to make plans to come if you are able to, to Falls Baptist Church. You can go online at ColaClashPlus.com. And if you Google that, it will bring you, I’m sure, to the website where you can get more information.
We’re excited about what God’s doing. And young person, let me urge you, even when you finish this podcast, to get on your knees and again, once again affirm, Lord, I want your will, I’m surrendered to it. And Lord, I’m depending on you to give me the strength to do it. And I’m convinced that if this generation will stay dependent upon God totally, and surrender to Him totally, they are gonna see God accomplish His will in remarkable ways. above all that you could ask or think. So God bless you. We’re looking forward weekly to keeping in touch with you at the Thee Generation.
